According to their Facebook page, the East End Thrift Store has the following preferences: their religious views are vintage and their political views thrifty. After a visit it’s got to be believed.
Located within a mysterious alley off Mile End Road, this industrial-looking shop space is a bountiful treasure chest of vintage and second hand items. It stocks everything from essential accessories such as hats and scarves, to the more serious items such as dungarees and Levi jackets.
However, what really makes the East End Thrift Store special are it’s regular ‘Party Nights’. Previous nights have seen customers treated to a ‘pound shop’ where a section of the store was dedicated to items costing a mere £5 or less – a haven for vintage loving folk that haven’t got big bucks to spend. Another popular feature is the store’s jumble sales where customers are given a choice of a £10 or £20 bag, which they are free to fill with as much stuff as they like.
The back section of the store is noteworthy, housing a dedicated area for clothing adjustments and modifications, all in the name of quirky and exciting retro fashion.Prices are also extremely reasonable, with vintage dresses at £15 and denim jackets at £25. It’s hard to find fault with the East End Thrift Store (and we’re not just saying that because the shop kindly provides a free beer and wine bar for all its visitors).
