If you like sandwiches and you like them big, then BLT is just for you. Positioned on the corner of Great Eastern Street and Curtain Road, the name BLT is an accurate acronym for big, loaded and tasty. Whilst this sandwich shop might be small, it certainly compensates for this with the size of its portions.
The pièce de résistance of BLT is their selection of internationally themed wraps. Choose from a daily changing menu of globally influenced creations. Highlights include the Ukraine (chicken kiev strips with paprika diced potatoes, creamy crunchy coleslaw, grated cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce, vine tomato and BBQ sauce), the Chicago (char-grilled chicken fajitas with chilli ground beef, roast pork, diced ham, cajun sausage and pepperoni in a pizza tomato sauce with four cheeses, leaves and jalapeños) and the Aussie (beef burger with back bacon, cheddar cheese, chunky oven chips, shredded iceberg lettuce, chopped pickled gherkin, thick mayonnaise and BBQ sauce). The special wraps are big, not badly priced (£5), oh and did we mention delicious? The mighty Carvery Sandwich is also well worth a look if you don’t fancy jet setting wrap style. It is worth noting that if you plan to go on a weekday lunch time you should expect to have to use all of your cunning to get to the counter – it gets very busy in here.
BLT is a carnivore’s utopia and therefore admittedly doesn’t have the widest range of vegetarian options. Also, if you are watching your waistline, maybe steer clear of the ridiculous wraps that they have to offer. However, if you are looking for a flavoursome wrap that is struggling to contain its bounty, BLT is one of the best places that we know to find it.
