GrandMother at The Old Church, Stoke Newington

April 18, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The live a cappella choral performance of GrandMother by award-winning composer and conductor, Esmeralda Conde Ruiz. GrandMother captures the real words and memories of grandmothers of all ages from around the world. Their words will be sung by a massed choir of 60 local female singers inside and outside The Old Church and will be lit by little sun lights by Olafur Eliasson, whose art has been featured in the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall and the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion.

Esmeralda Conde Ruiz, an innovative choral conductor and multi-award winning composer, is one of our Associate Artists. She has worked in film, theatre, architecture and art all over the world, specialising in voice ensembles and sound. She is pioneering interdisciplinary work that integrates site-specific visual and sound. Notable artistic collaborators include Yoko Ono, Nils Frahm, CocoRosie, Matthew Herbert, Robert Wilson and Mira Calix.
